Activity 1: Some Olympic athletes become famous not because they win but because they have an amazing attitude and great determination. They are sometimes called ‘underdogs.’ One of the most famous ‘underdogs’ in Olympic history was a man named Michael Edwards. He was a ski jumper from England who competed in the 1988 Olympic Games in Calgary, Canada. Although he came last in the event, he never gave up. Recently, a movie has been made about his life.

- It is called “Eddie the Eagle. For this activity, watch the trailer for Eddie the Eagle and then post a summary of the movie on your blog. What is the movie about?

- The movie is about a old man named 'Michael Edwards, but some people like calling him Eddie the Eagle.

- Eddie the eagles dream was to compete in the Olympics because that what he wanted to do.But there will always be some people that would make him feel upset or sad which is not a very nice thing to do.

DAY 4:Be the Inspiration

Activity 1: New Zealand will be sending approximately 76 athletes to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in August to compete in the Summer Olympic Games. To learn more about these amazing athletes you can read their biographies on the New Zealand Olympic team website. Each athlete has their own page dedicated to them.

For this activity, please choose one of the athletes listed on the Rio Olympic Athletes page, read about them and then write a short description of them on your blog. In the blog please include their name, their sport, and three interesting facts about them.

Rio will be Valerie's fourth Olympic Games having won gold in the shot put at Beijing 2008 and London 2012 and finishing seventh in her debut at Athens which was in 2004.

- Valerie has been the dominant women's shot putter in the world since 2006

- Valerie is on the comeback after shoulder and elbow surgery in 2014

-World Indoor Champion 2008, 2012, 2014.

Competitors must try to throw their opponent onto the ground with their back on the floor, and lay them on the ground for about  20 seconds.

Next Rule: In Judo, for  five minutes last for men and four minutes for the girls.

Next Rule: Kicking or punching are not allowed , if the referee thinks that one of these blows.

Day 2 Activity 1: Tom and Vinicius - 2016 Olympics in Rio

The mascots for the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro are Vinicius and Tom. They can be found on all of the advertisements for the Olympic Games and they have also been featured in a number of videos. Click on the link below to watch one episode of the Tom and Vinicius show. - The episode was about
chasing,  a flying gem. 
 But at the end of the episode, the gems gets caught, by chasing after them.

To me I think the main idea about this episode is that Tom and Vinicius were just getting ready for their new journey into the Olympic Games. 

DAY 1: Once Upon a Time in Olympia

The ancient city of Olympia was the site of the first ever Olympic Games. They were held in 776 BC. During these games, men from Greece were invited to participate in one or more of the following events – running, jumping, discus throwing, wrestling, boxing, pankration, horse and chariot races, and the pentathlon. The ancient Olympic Games came to an end in 393 AD, approximately 1000 years after they had first started.

Activity 1: Let’s imagine that you were alive 2792 years ago and invited to compete in the first ever ancient Olympic Games. Which of these events: running, wrestling, boxing, pankration, horse racing and pentathlon would you compete in? My Answer:
- To be honest if I had completed in the Olympic Games, 2792 years ago, I will want to complete in the other event which is running.

Trip to the Cathedral Church.

• Last Friday there was a special event installed for the day. Our school Saint Pius X Catholic School had the oppurtuinty to go the Cathtedral church and sing a lovley song there. We all had gathered together early in the morning waiting to go on the bus patiently.

• Once we had arrived at the Catherdral church we had all gathered together quietly and walked off inside the church. This time was the year of mercy, so there we were all walking through the door of mercy where the preist had blessed it.  When we had walked in their, I could see that there was a lot of people that was random sitting in the other side of the seats, but we were sitting on the extension side.

• Before the church had started, the church was very quiet and holy that some people were praying. When we were all settled down, Father then came along singing a beautiful song together walking donw the altar. Then while its had been Holy communion we had began to sing our school song named Bread Broken, its was very lovely just as father had told us.

• Then once the mass had finsihed we all got everyone to take a whole school photo up at the altar, Its was very good.  Then after that we had sat down and listened to father, we learnt about the foundation rock, and we learn about the stained  glass of Mary and Jesus, The Asscenision and the Assumption. It then finaly finished and we had walked outside, putting the blessing water on ourselves together with father and us singing a song named Merciful like the Father.

• After that we had went into another buidling where we had our delicious lunch break, and talking to our friends.

• Then after a little while the bus was there, which meant its was time for us te head back to  school to go home.
• Its was very fun going to the Cathedrall church, and I hope to go and visit it another time.

My Narrative Writing: A missing Girl.

• Narrative: A missing girl.

• Long ago, there was a little girl who had sadly lost her parents recently from a very bad car accident.

• One evening around about 6:00 she had decided to have a fresh walk out in the forest, without letting her Aunty and uncle know about it, because she  already knew that the answer would be NO! She closed the door quiety behind her, put on her sports shoes and headed off through the paths.

• But there was something very strange that she noticed while she was walking along the path, There was a red car following her slowly behind her she felt very very worried and scared, because this red car was following her without any sound. But she carried on walking faster and faster until she was deep in the forest. Her heart was betting very fast that she regret not telling her Aunty and uncle about this.

• Behind her she could hear noise of the door shuting, she had tears in her eyes because she felt very scared about what might happen next. She ran quickly along the trees and paths looking for a hidden place. It was very hard to find one because its was really dark and she had no torch on her. Suddenly the little girl had found a little place where she could hide in, its was a bush.

• Suddenly the person had  stopped near the bush where she was hiding. The little girl was rolling up into a small ball, crying without making any noise or else the person would find her. But the person could not find the little girl he was looking for, so he gaved up and left the forest.

• When he left the girl waited for 30 seconds then came out of the bush. She knew that her uncle and Aunty would be worry about where she might be gone. But suddenly when she came  out she could here a sound of a police car. She knew that they might be looking for her.

• The police went out looking in the forest calling her name out loud worrying where she might be, ,but suddenly the girl  replied. They qucikly ran and suddenly found her, she quickly ran to her Aunty and Grandpa in the dark and hugged them very close and tight.
• They walked all the way back to the car and headed off home. The girl sat down in their kitchen telling the story all the way back from the begnning. It was very long.
